Lord of the Flies: Who's fault?

Jack is clearly the "bad guy" in this novel. However, many of the boys followed his leadership, and played a role in the awful things that happened to Simon and Piggy. What do you think? How much blame or responsibility should these other boys share in Simon and Piggy's death? Is it fair to put all the blame on Ralph?

  1. I do not think it was much of Ralphs fault because all he wanted to do was to get the smoke oing to get saved. But I do think there is a responsability that all of the boys shared for what happened to Piggy and Simon because if they had just fallowed the rules that Ralph had set then nothing would have happened. I don't think its fair to put all the blame on Ralph because Jack was the one who wanted to separate the group because he wanted power.

  2. I really like what you said about shared responsibility. Of course we need to give Jack the lion's share of the blame. But it's important to examine in society, how we are responsible for giving others power over us.
